Under the name Supervinobros, Ryan Goydos — together with his brother Christopher — has established himself as one of the defining voices of the new wine generation. Educated by the “streets” rather than formal wine certificates, Ryan approaches wine through constant tasting, visiting winemakers, building community, and communicating with refreshing transparency and accessibility — though never in a banal way. The brothers’ blind tasting videos regularly go viral, connecting with an audience eager for a more relaxed, authentic entry point into wine than that of their predecessors.

Karakterre’s Aleks Zecevic caught up with Ryan in Austria during Karakterre 13 in May 2024. Between tasting through Burgenland, Styria, the Weinviertel, and beyond, the two discussed Austria’s place in today’s market, what younger generations seek in wine, and the enduring love of the craft that binds it all together.
